Increased assembly productivity
When using fasteners with hexalobular recess (TX), the power is transmitted over a large surface area across the flanks of the recess rather than being centred on one point, as is the case with hexagon socket recesses. This has a number of advantages:
- Reduced tool wear
- Tool does not slip because power is distributed optimally
- No damage to surface coat
- No wobbling
- Screw locates securely
Hexalobular internal driving features are standardised in accordance with DIN EN ISO 10664
- As a result, fasteners with hexalobular recess are standardised and can be used all over the world.
The values given here have been calculated on the assumption of optimal conditions and without knowledge of the design context. The dispersion of the assembly tools and the dispersion of the friction coefficient were not explicitly taken into account. In the specific case, it is necessary to check the applicability of the information. This is the responsibility of the person who is responsible for design.
- VDI 2230: Annex A; assumption of total friction coefficient = 0.12
- VDI 2230: Assumption of torque-controlled tightening; friction coefficient class B; therefore assumption of tightening factor = 2
